In Memory of Mellie KerinsMary (“Mellie”) Eleanor Baker Kerins, aged 77, passed away on April 11, 2025, in Evans, Georgia. Mellie was a lover of animals and spent much volunteer time with local rescues and animal shelters. She adopted Digby and gave him a wonderful home until her health became an issue. Mellie was a friend of Hands to Paws founder and former President Kat Ellis. Kat said "Mellie was a sweet soul who will be very missed!"
PS Digby (pictured below) is now with Hands to Paws Rescue and in need of another loving home.

In honor and memory of Vietnam Veteran Ted Lamont
Amy Josey has made a generous donation of $800 in honor and memory of her ex-husband Ted Lamont 1950-2016.
The donation is designated to pay for cancer vaccine for Hands to Paws Rescue Scout who recently had a sarcoma tumor removed and recommended treatment to prevent return is this expensive vaccine.
Ted served his country during the Vietnam War. He died on Memorial day in 2016. He was Amy's dearest friend. He suffered with PTSD and survivor guilt. After his active service he worked for the VA as a way to pay- back his fellow veterans.
Ted was a good person and loved animals!

This year we lost a dear man and one of our original board members: Mike Brown. Mike and his wife June were instrumental to the founding of the rescue and have supported us through all of these years as fosters, adopters, volunteers, board members and in a financial capacity! Mike lost his battle with cancer this year! He was a great man and will be missed by all!
